Academy Theatre needs volunteers, will hold open house for those interested

February 10, 2013 7:00 a.m. MEADVILLE — A Volunteer Open House is set for The Academy Theatre, 275 Chestnut St., Meadville, Feb. 23 from 10 a.m. to noon.

The Volunteer Committee invites the community to stop by the Theatre and see what’s inside. There will be opportunities to tour the Theatre, enjoy refreshments and meet our Volunteer Family.

The lobby will offer a hot chocolate bar and other seasonal treats. There will be a free raffle for a $25 gift certificate to Mannino Italian Garden in Meadville and a pair of tickets to see Legally Blonde at the Academy in April.

Volunteers are the life-blood of the Theatre. Without their efforts, the Academy’s wonderful stage productions and special events would not be possible. The Academy treasures all who donate their time and talents to the theatre, and would love to welcome more. To that end, the Volunteer Committee is working to make signing up to volunteer easier than ever.

Starting at the Open House, volunteer forms will be available at the Theatre during the regular box office hours of Tuesday through Friday, noon to 6 p.m., and during show times. Simply fill out the form and the Volunteer Coordinator will contact you when opportunities arise. The Support tab on the Academy Theatre’s website also contains the form (theacademytheatre.org), and the phone lines are always open (337-8000).

For more information about the Volunteer Open House, please call 337-8000.

The Academy Theatre is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Its purpose is to be a recognized center for the performing arts in Northwest Pennsylvania, and an integral part of the regional arts community; to develop artistic appreciation and serve the cultural, social and educational needs of an expanding audience; and to perform in a fully functioning, comfortable and historically faithful facility.
