Tentative lineup of bands for Crawford County Music Fest is set

Event will be held at Sprague Farm and Brew Works — tickets on sale now

VENANGO — WQLN Public Media has announced the tentative lineup of bands for the Crawford County Music Fest on June 29.

This annual outdoor American Roots concert is held in the old oak lined meadow behind the Sprague Farm and Brew Works in Venango, and it is unique because of its remote location. Everything is trucked in — stage, sound, lights, facilities and food. The concert is a daylight show beginning at noon and ending by 9. In addition to music, local artists and craftspersons will make and display their work.

The tentative main stage schedule is: noon, Tom Stein; 1, Nancy Deckant and Black Rock County; 2:30, Tom Stein; 3, Tiger Maple String Band; 4:30, Tom Stein; 5, The Folkadelics; 6:30, Tom Stein; 7, The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band.

The headliner act, The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band, is a hillbilly country blues trio featuring Josh Peyton on guitar and vocals, his wife Breezy on washboard, and cousin Aaron Persinger on drums and plastic bucket. The band hales from Indiana and performs a ragged and swampy deep Delta sound that kicks like a mule, which is the core of their latest release, “Between the Ditches.”

It was released on Aug. 7, 2012, and was well-received. On the first day of sales, the album was at the top of the iTunes Blues chart and debuted at the number two spot on the Billboard Blues chart, reaching number 130 on the Billboard Pop Album chart, making it the bands biggest commercial success to date.

Tickets are $25 and are available at WQLN Public Media, 8425 Peach St.,

Erie, and the Crawford County Convention and Visitors Bureau, 16709 Conneaut Lake Road, Meadville.
