MEADVILLE —
The estimated arrival time of the escort for Sgt. Chester of Conneaut Lake, a Korean War veteran, has been moved forward.
The hearse carrying Williams’ remains, and a motorcycle escort, now are expected to arrive at the Meadville exit of Interstate 79 at approximately 2:30 p.m.
Meadville Police Department is to provide an escort at the interstate, then travel north along Park Avenue to Chestnut Street, then east on Chestnut to Robert W. Waid Funeral Home. An honor guard of pallbearers from Veterans of the Vietnam War Post 52 will escort the remains into the funeral home.
A funeral for Sgt. Williams with full military honors is scheduled Sunday at 2 p.m. in Greendale Cemetery, Meadville.
Williams was 32 when he was reported missing in action in Korea on Dec. 6, 1950. He died of exposure in a North Korean prison camp in late-December 1950.
