MEADVILLE —
Separate crashes in Crawford County have left two persons hospitalized.
Tyler Terrill of Cochranton is in UPMC Hamot in Erie while Angela Miller of Westford is at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Terrill was operating a motorcycle when he was struck by a pickup truck on Mercer Pike in Greenwood Township at 3:18 p.m. Wednesday, according to Pennsylvania State Police at Meadville.
Terrill drove out of a driveway on a motorcycle onto Mercer Pike into the southbound lane in front of a pickup truck, driven by Myrle R. Knickerbocker, 62, of Meadville, police said. Knickerbocker attempted to brake to avoid striking the motorcycle, but was unable to stop his truck, police said. The impact threw Terrill from the motorcycle while Knickerbocker’s truck traveled into a ditch, police said.
Terrill was flown from the scene to UPMC Hamot while Knickerbocker, who was wearing a seat belt, was uninjured, police said. Terrill was wearing a motorcycle helmet.
A nursing supervisor at UPMC Hamot said information on Terrill’s condition could not be released because he is a juvenile.
Miller was injured in a crash at 2:09 a.m. today at McMaster and Laird roads in East Fallowfield Township, according to state police.
Miller was driving north on McMaster Road when she failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection with Laird Road, police said. Miller’s auto traveled through the intersection and struck an embankment on the north side of Laird Road, police said.
Miller was transported to UPMC Horizon Greenville by private vehicle, but later flown to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh for further treatment, police said.
Miller’s condition was unavailable this morning from UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.
