VERNON TOWNSHIP —
A two-vehicle crash on Conneaut Lake Road about two miles east of Conneaut Lake claimed the life of a Saegertown-area man and caused injuries to two other people.
Vincent F. Kiser, 32, was killed when his westbound car crossed over all lanes of the highway and struck an eastbound car broadside, according to a report from Vernon Township Police Department.
Kiser was pronounced dead at the scene by Crawford County Coroner Scott Schell.
The identities of the eastbound driver and passenger were not being released Thursday night, as the investigation is continuing, Vernon police said. One of that car’s occupants was life-flighted by Stat Medivac helicopter ambulance to an Erie hospital with injuries that appeared serious, the Vernon report said; the other was taken to Meadville Medical Center with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening.
The crash was on U.S. Route 6/322, Conneaut Lake Road, between Ellion and North Watson Run Road, just east of the Sadsbury-Vernon township line, and closed the highway for about two hours between state Route 18 and North Watson Run Road from just after 6:30 until 8:35 p.m.
Vernon police were assisted at the scene by Vernon Central and Conneaut Lake volunteer fire departments and Conneaut Lake Ambulance Service. Though the highway was reopened at 8:35, emergency personnel remained on the scene until 9:30.
