Dr. John Nesbitt of Meadville is this year’s recipient of the Gov. Raymond P. Shafer Award for Distinguished Community Service.
The award recognizes a person who has made a singular contribution to the quality of life in western Crawford County.
The presentation will take place at the Meadville-Western Crawford County Chamber of Commerce’s annual Awards Night on Feb. 20 at The Movies at Meadville beginning at 6 p.m.
In addition to his long service as a physician in the Meadville area, Nesbitt has given his support to community organizations, including serving as the volunteer medical director of the Meadville Area Free Clinic; a founding member and board director of the Crawford Heritage Community Foundation; and active member and leader within First Presbyterian Church of Meadville.
“I’m flattered and surprised,” Nesbitt said Wednesday. “This is right out of the blue.”
This is the second year the award recipient is announced in advance.
Seats are still available. Reservations must be made by Friday by calling the Chamber at 337-8030 or contacting Karen Staudt at email@example.com.
