MEADVILLE —
Five new divisions have been added to the Youth Department for the 2010 Crawford County Fair, according to Carolyn Turnbull, youth handicrafts vice chairperson. Each division has three age categories — up to age 8; ages 9 to 12; and ages 13 to 18.
- Division 1 — Aluminum can recycling, garden decoration. Must be recycled aluminum soda can only. Nothing requiring electricity to operate. Must be at least 80 percent recyclable cans. Maximum of 16 inches long by 16 inches wide and a height not to exceed 20 inches.
- Division 2 — Aluminum can recycling, holiday theme. Must be recycled aluminum soda can only. Nothing requiring electricity to operate. Must be at least 80 percent recyclable cans. Maximum of 16 inches long by 16 inches wide and a height not to exceed 20 inches.
- Division 3 — Aluminum can recycling, table decoration. Must be recycled aluminum soda can only. Nothing requiring electricity to operate. Must be at least 80 percent recyclable cans. Maximum of 16 inches long by 16 inches wide and a height not to exceed 20 inches.
- Division 4 — Aluminum can recycling, wall decoration. Must be recycled aluminum soda can only. Nothing requiring electricity to operate. Must be at least 80 percent recyclable cans. Maximum of 16 inches long by 16 inches wide and a height not to exceed 20 inches.
- Division 30 — Replica of a building in Crawford County. No commercial building or materials or Legos allowed. An actual photo of the real building must be attached.
One new category has been added to the Adult Handicrafts Department.
Scrap-boxing is a hybrid medium of scrapbooking within a glass enclosed shadow box. Each shadow box must be enclosed in glass and measure no larger than 10 inches by 12 inches. Shadow boxes must contain a mixed-media collage heralding a special or everyday occasion. Suggested items which may be included besides the required scrapbook crafts are photos, snapshots, and souvenirs.
Entries will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. Aug. 20 and from 8 to 11 a.m. Aug. 21. All entries must be in place by 11 a.m. Aug. 21.
An exhibitor’s number must be obtained before coming to register.
Exhibitors are reminded to check the Crawford County Fair’s webpage for specific rules and requirements for Department 43: “Adult Art-Photography-Crafts” and Department 44: “Youth Art-Photography-Crafts,” since fair books are not being mailed as in the past.
