ESPYVILLE —
Emergency teams from numerous area companies spent hours Friday afternoon and early evening searching a Pymatuning Lake inlet near Espyville.
They were at the scene — on shore, in boats, in the air and in the water — after a 911 emergency radio dispatch called for a “possible water rescue” on the north side of the causeway in front of the Espyville marina just after 4 p.m.
According to Mike Cadman, chief of Jamestown Volunteer Fire Department, “(Pymatuning State) Park rangers said a guy reported that he thought he saw a blue T-shirt and an arm sticking out of the water about 20 yards out. We searched extensively” using sonar scanners but were unable to locate anything. Neither were a STAT MedEvac helicopter, which had good visibility opportunities from above, or numerous divers (from Jamestown, North Shenango, Andover, Ohio, and Crawford County scuba dive teams), whose visibility was just a few inches as they worked the site extensively.
No reports of a missing person have been issued.
Responders from Pymatuning State Park; Jamestown, North Shenango, Andover and Linesville volunteer fire departments; Crawford County Scuba Team; Pennsylvania State Police, Conneaut Lake Area Ambulance Service, Stat MedEvac helicopter and Blooming Valley Search and Rescue were at the scene.
The search was called off about 6:50, Cadman said.
