Garage damaged in Saturday blaze

VENANGO TOWNSHIP — Firefighters rushed to a garage fire that reportedly burned a hole in the structure’s roof by a Venango Township residence Saturday afternoon.

Venango Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched at approximately 3:56 to 21299 Ball Road after a neighbor noticed the blaze and called 911, said Fire Chief Robert Proper.

“There was heavy damage to the structure and its contents,” he said. “The garage seemed to be for auto repair and personal use.”

Cambridge Springs and West Mead #2 departments assisted on scene with Cambridge Area Volunteer Ambulance Service personnel. Firefighters remained on site until approximately 6 p.m.

A State Police fire marshal is currently investigating the fire’s cause.

No injuries were reported and no one was inside the structure at the time of the fire, said Proper.
