Pack a pistol and get a discount on your food? It's a deal some establishments around the country are offering to customers as a way to show their stance on gun control.
Athens, Ala., barbecue restaurateur Bill Davis Jr. is offering a $1 discount to customers who present their pistol permit when ordering at Hickory Barn Bar-B-Que.
The offer isn’t just a cheap appeal for customers; Davis is an authentic proponent of concealed weapon laws.
"There are a lot of law-abiding people who carry a pistol, and it would be nice to appreciate some of them," Davis said Wednesday in announcing the promotion. "We thought it would be a little something different to do to promote folks to get them a pistol permit."
In South Ogden, Utah, one Farr's Fresh ice cream shop announced on its Facebook page that Feb. 4 was "Concealed Carry Day." Customers were instructed to present their concealed carry permit for a $1 discount.
The next day, a Facebook post announced that the shop would be having a "Second Amendment week" due to the large response it received.
All Around Pizza and Deli in Virginia Beach, Va., posted a deal on its website offering 15 percent off to those who "show us you carry openly or show us a concealed weapons permit."
