Stephen (Steve) A. Frisina

MEADVILLE — Stephen (Steve) A. Frisina, 77, of 16135 Limber Road, Meadville, passed away Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at home.

Steve was born at home in Meadville on Oct. 15, 1934, a son of the late Antonio and Antonietti (Anna) Baretta Frisina.

Steve’s long career in the grocery business began many years ago at the former Pat and Pete’s grocery store. He later worked for the former Golden Dawn, Valesky’s and other grocery stores in the area. From stockboy to produce manager as well as manager, Steve worked in every capacity during his career. Following his retirement, he was employed as a part-time bartender at the Italian Civic Club (ICC) in Meadville.

He was a 1954 graduate of Meadville High School, and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving during the Korean Conflict.

Steve was of the Catholic faith and had developed a strong devotion to the Lady of Guatalupe.

His enthusiasm for the Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Indians was second only to his passion for golf. Steve enjoyed golfing daily, weather permitting, for many years and played in a retirement league at Whispering Pines.

The most important joy in Steve’s life was his family and extended family including children, grandchildren, siblings and all of his nieces and nephews.

Steve is survived by four children, Gina Adams and her husband, Mark, of Erie, Mark Frisina and his wife, Leslie, of Berwyn, Dan Frisina and his wife, Rhonda, of Charlotte, N.C., and Christopher (CJ) Frisina of Knoxville, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Michael Adams, Connor Frisina, Jennifer Adams, Robert Adams and Claire Frisina; a sister, Rose Passander of Ansonia, Conn.; five brothers, Joseph Frisina of Fresno, Calif., Anthony Frisina and his wife, Rose, of Meadville, Sam Frisina of Fresno, Dominic Frisina and his wife, Marcia and Peter Frisina and his wife, Kathy, all of Erie; 22 nieces and nephews; 34 great-nieces and -nephews; and four great-great-nieces and -nephews.

In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by a grandson, Stephen Frisina; a brother, John Frisina; and a sister, Theresa Baiera.

A memorial service, followed with full military honors by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006, will be held on Friday, July 6, at 4 p.m. at St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, 1085 Water St., Meadville.

Interment will take place in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Township.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 300 Penn Central Blvd., Pittsburgh, Pa. 15235.

Arrangements are under the direction of Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville.
