MEADVILLE — Ruth T. Marsh, 76, of Meadville, passed away Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at Meadville Medical Center following a period of declining health.

She was born on Sept. 13, 1936, in Meadville, a daughter of the late Gerald and Jean Simpson Winters. On Oct. 2, 1976, she married Charles (Chuck) Marsh, who survives.

Ruth was a 1953 graduate of Meadville High School and was employed as an inspector at Channellock for 20 years. She helped start the Crawford County Alert Team and taught CPR and advanced first aid through the American Red Cross. She enjoyed camping, fishing, embroidery, playing cards and bird watching. In her younger years, she also enjoyed singing.

Survivors, in addition to her loving husband, Chuck, of 36 years, include five sons, Michael C. Rankin and his wife, Maryann, of Cambridge Springs, Gary E. Rankin and his wife, Delora, of Townville, James W. Rankin and his wife, Lesli, of Houston, Texas, Larry D. Rankin and his companion, Mary Semi, of Meadville, and Paul A. Lewis and his wife, Lori, of Clarksville, Tenn.; two daughters, Connie R. Gill of New Orleans and Janet I. Lewis of Clarksville, Tenn.; a stepdaughter, Diane Courson and her husband, Larry, of Saegertown; a sister, Karen Dolk of Lafayette, Ind.; two brothers, William Winters and his wife, Cathy, of Saegertown, and Robert Winters and his wife, Sue, of Meadville; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ralph and Thelma Winters, with whom she was very close; two sons, David E. and Daniel L. Rankin; and a sister, Barbara Winters.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from noon to 2 p.m. at Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville, where the funeral and committal service will follow at 2, with the Rev. Michael Fraser, pastor of Lyona Bible Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Crawford County, 464 Pine St., Meadville, Pa. 16335.
