CONNEAUTVILLE — Timothy John (Tim) Lopus, 48, of 14271 Foster Road, Conneautville, passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at Meadville Medical Center.

Tim was born in Meadville on Sept. 29, 1961, a son of Rita Dahlkemper Lopus and the late Ralph T. Lopus. On June 4, 1983, Tim married Marla J. Eckart; she survives.

He was a member of Twelve Apostles Lutheran Church, Saegertown.

An employee of Pennsylvania Department of Transportation since 2002, Tim was also employed at Veteran Tables. He was previously employed by Seco/Warwick. Graduating from Saegertown High School in 1979, Tim also served as tax assessor for Hayfield Township.

A member of Western Crawford County Masonic Lodge No. 258, he had served as past master. Tim was a member of Hayfield Volunteer Fire Department, where he had formerly served as secretary. He also served as vice president of American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local No. 2101. He was an avid football fan whose hobbies included both bow and rifle hunting. He also enjoyed working on remodeling projects.

In addition to his wife, Marla, of 26 years, Tim is survived by two children, Clarissa Lee Lopus and Tyler John Lopus, both of Conneautville; his mother, Rita Lopus of Meadville; a sister, Mary Beth VanWinkle and her husband, Mark, of Tallmadge, Ohio; two brothers, William J. Lopus and his wife, Nancy, of Richmond, Va., and Thomas A. Lopus and his wife, Donna, of Pittsburgh; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph T. Lopus.

Family and friends are invited to call today from 6:30 to 9 p.m. and on Friday from 3 to 9 p.m. at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where the Western Crawford County Masonic Lodge No. 258 will conduct a service at 8:30 p.m.

The funeral will be at Twelve Apostles Lutheran Church, 358 Euclid Ave., Saegertown, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, with the Rev. Kelly Nelson, pastor, officiating.

Interment will take place in Denny Cemetery, Hayfield Township.
