Elijah Ray Chatley

MEADVILLE — Elijah Ray Chatley, 9, of 159 Walnut St., Meadville, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at Meadville Medical Center.

Elijah was born in Corry on Nov. 28, 2003, a son of Heidi Marie Chatley.

He was a member of St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, where he was looking forward to making the Sacrament of First Holy Communion this year. He was proud to be a reader at Mass and practiced very hard to do a good job.

Elijah was in third grade at Seton School, where he had been a student since preschool. He enjoyed working the concession stand during the Seton basketball games and he was involved with Seton’s upcoming school play, “Wackadoo,” where he had the speaking part of a goat. Creative and curious, Elijah wanted to become an inventor or an animal rescuer when he grew up. He loved playing Pokémon and playing with his family. His joking spirit and bright smile will always be remembered.

In addition to his mother, Elijah is survived by a sister, Shadow Hannold, and a brother, Cody Hannold, both at home; his maternal grandmother, Janice Chatley, and his stepfather, Scott Griffith, both of Meadville; Taylor Hannold of Waterford, to whom he referred as his older sister; a stepsister, Holly Griffith of New York, N.Y.; and stepbrothers, Scotty Griffith of Meadville and Johnny Griffith of Crystal River, Fla.

Family and friends are invited to call on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where a scripture service will be conducted at 6:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, 383 Arch St., Meadville, with Father Matthew Kujawinski, pastor of St. Agatha Roman Catholic Church, Father Marc Solomon, pastor of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, and Father Jonathan Schmolt, pastor of St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, officiating.

Interment will take place in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Vernon Township.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Elijah’s memory to Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, Pa. 16335.
