Alice M. Dengler Cornell

MEADVILLE —

Alice M. Dengler Cornell, 92, of Dunham Road, Meadville, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010, at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community.

Born April 8, 1918, in Mosiertown, she was a daughter of G. Vern Dengler and Grace Flagg Dengler. She married Clarence A. Cornell in 1938; he preceded her in death on Oct. 9, 1979.

She attended Mosiertown and Cambridge Springs schools. She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Stone United Methodist Church, Meadville.

She loved being with family and grandchildren and her dog, Joey.

Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Shea and her husband, Donald, of Meadville; two sons, Robert C. (Butch) Cornell and his wife, Judith, of Meadville, and Carl H. (Pete) Cornell and his wife, Bonnie, of Rock Hill, S.C.; five grandchildren, Kim Mailliard and her husband, Carl, Dr. Robert J. Cornell and his companion, Dena Frisby, Dr. Christopher C. Cornell, Julie Cornell and Allison Cornell; eight great-grandchildren, Parker and Hope Mailliard, Brandon and Molly Cornell, Maya Layne Cornell, Madelynne Metheney, and Ryan and Allexis She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four sisters, Doris Gillette, Elda Cook, Dorothy Rutkowski and Clara Meyers; and a brother, Clyde Dengler.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 2 to 6 p.m. at Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home, 614 Baldwin St., Meadville.

The funeral will be Thursday at 6 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Spahr of Stone United Methodist Church officiating.

Interment will be in Denny Cemetery.

The family requests memorials be made to Hospice of Crawford County, 464 Pine St., Meadville, Pa. 16335; or to Stone United Methodist Church, 956 S. Main St., Meadville, Pa. 16335.
