Alexander (Alex) Hritzay, 92, formerly of Saegertown, passed away Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010, at Rolling Fields, Conneautville, where he has been a resident.
He was born Oct. 18, 1917, in Wood, a son of the late Paul and Xenia Karpovich Hritzay.
Alex served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired from American Sterilizer in Erie in 1980 after 25 years of service. He also worked as an electrician for REA.
Alex was a member of St. Philip Catholic Church in Crossingville, American Legion Post 504 in Saegertown and the Quarter Century Club of American Sterilizer. He enjoyed photography, hunting, fishing, boating, snowmobiling and racing cars.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Margaret (Marge) Durasa Hritzay, in 2005; a sister, Olga Hritzay; and three brothers, John, Michael and William Hritzay.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at Mattera Funeral Home, 188 E. State St., Albion, on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Philip Catholic Church in Crossingville on Thursday at 10 a.m., with Father Thad Kondzielski as celebrant.
Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Crossingville.
