Yvonne L. (Vonnie) Mailliard

GUYS MILLS — Yvonne L. (Vonnie) Mailliard, 75, of 26440 State Highway 27, Guys Mills, died peacefully Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012, at home following a courageous battle with COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) and lung cancer.

She was born Dec. 3, 1936, in Franklin, a daughter of Floyd O. and Lexie A. Rieb Ray. She married Richard S. (Dick) Mailliard on Sept. 16, 1955; he passed away Nov. 29, 2003.

She attended Chapmanville, Cooperstown, Sunville, Titusville and Townville schools. She was previously employed by Williams Funeral Home where she helped with odd jobs; Eckard’s Drug Store as a clerk; PENNCREST School District where she was a Cafeteria Lady; and as the bookkeeper at Mailliard’s Lumber Co., which she co-owned with her husband.

Vonnie relished the outdoors. She enjoyed hunting deer and turkey with her husband; tending to her flower beds; mowing grass; playing cards, bingo, the lottery, casino gambling on occasion; and her most favorite thing to do was spend time at the family camp. While at camp she hosted picnics for family and friends and four-wheeler riding. Out of all these, Vonnie had the best and most fulfilling time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a of the Methodist faith.

She is survived by two sons, Daniel R. Mailliard and his wife, Theresa, of Townville, and Timothy J. Mailliard and his wife, Sabrina, of Meadville; a daughter, Constance S. Hyde and her husband, Andrew, of Guys Mills; nine grandchildren, Nicole Neely and her husband, Brett, of Townville, Abby Mailliard of Townville, Lauren Thomas and her husband, Jay, of Meadville, Kristen Boyles and her husband, Derek, of Guys Mills, Beth Yunik and her husband, Josh, of Warren, Patrick and Zachary Mailliard of Meadville, and Kaycee and Lexie Hyde of Guys Mills; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Floyd Byron Ray and his wife, Mildred, of Meadville; a sister, Alice Crawford of Townville; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard (Dick), of 48 years; her parents; three brothers, Glenn, John and Neal; and a grandson, Adam Mailliard.

Calling hours are Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Roofner-Collins-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 544 Chestnut St., Meadville.

The funeral will be held at Mount Hope United Methodist Church, 29034 State Highway 27, Guys Mills, Wednesday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Alice McClymonds of Mount Hope United Methodist Church officiating.

Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery, Guys Mills.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made in Yvonne's memory to Hospice of Crawford County, 464 Pine St., Meadville, Pa. 16335; or Mount Hope United Methodist Church, 29034 State Highway 27, Guys Mills, Pa. 16327.
