Alice Amelia Ebbert

MEADVILLE — Alice Amelia Ebbert, 93, formerly of Sandy Lake and Conneaut Lake, and a resident of the Hillside Home in Meadville, died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012, at her residence.

Born Sept. 24, 1919, in Sandy Lake, she was a daughter of Albert N. and Mary L. Axtell Voorhies. She married George W. Ebbert Sr. on April 18, 1942, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 7, 1986.

She was a 1937 graduate of Sandy Lake High School and a 1940 graduate of Meadville City Hospital School of Nursing.

For several years, she was the plant nurse at Talon. She then went to Meadville City Hospital as a maternity nurse. She finished her nursing career as the maternity supervising nurse at Greenville Regional Hospital.

She was a member of New Lebanon Community Church and was also an active member of Conneaut Lake Presbyterian Church. She was also a former member of the Meadville City Hospital Alumni Association, the Lady’s Aide Society at the New Lebanon Church and a long-time volunteer for the Conneaut Lake Samaritans.

When she wasn’t working or volunteering, she enjoyed quilting, gardening, flowers and being the “Neighborhood Nurse,” when called.

Survivors include her children, Elwilda (Willie) Bell of Cochranton, Delores Brady and her husband, William Jr., of Taylors, S.C., Rita Rendulic and her husband, John D., of Conneaut Lake, and Brian K. (Woody) Ebbert and his wife, Nancy, of Hartstown; a sister, Wilda Worsk of Sandy Lake; nine grandchildren, R. Alan Ebbert, Teresa Blystone and her husband, Bryan, Leslie Ebbert and his wife, Rachelle, Melissa Kirk and her husband, Cecil, Denise Bell, Kevin Bell and his wife, Jamie, Daryl Locke, Ashley Ebbert and Brandon Ebbert; eight great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews; and a daughter-in-law, Linda Ebbert of Madison, Ohio.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, George W. (Bill) Ebbert Jr.; a brother, Clair Voorhies; a great-grandson, Ryan James Locke; and a son-in-law, Russell Bell.

Friends will be received at Dickson Family Funeral Home Inc., 123 S. Franklin St., Cochranton, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8 p.m. The funeral and committal service will begin at 8 p.m., with the Rev. Mark Frailey of Conneaut Lake Presbyterian Church officiating.

Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

The family ask that memorials be made to Hillside Home, 535 Williamson Road, or to Crawford County Hospice, 464 Pine St., both of Meadville, Pa. 16335.
