Stanley L. Baker

SAEGERTOWN — Stanley L. Baker, 91, passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 25, 2013, at the Crawford County Care Center, Saegertown.

He was born in Summerhill Township on March 13, 1921, the son of the late Merle F. and Bertha Rogers Baker.

He graduated from Conneautville High School in l938 and went to serve his country during World War II in the Army 70th Infantry Division in France and Germany.

Stanley was employed at the American Viscose for 28 1/2 years and then became a pipe fitter in the Local Union 47 for 18 years. Upon his retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife and their friends.

He was active in the Eureka Grange at Norrisville for 65 years, a past member of the Fraternal Order of Police, a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 615 and a member of the Eagles 459.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, who he married on Nov. 21, 1941, Agnes Locke Baker in 2003; his brother Donald Baker in 1985; and a niece, Janet Marie Baker Winship in 1966.

Stanley is survived by his daughter, Donna Mae Baker Linder and her husband, Christopher; two grandsons, Todd Linder and Troy Linder and his wife, Kerry; three great-grandchildren, Trenton, Kassi Mae and Kody; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Dickson Funeral Home and Crematory, 130 N. Second St., Conneaut Lake, on Monday from 1 p.m. until time of the funeral service at 3 p.m. with Rev. David Brumagin, Pastoral Care at Meadville Medical Center, officiating.

Full Military Honors will be conducted by VFW Post 2006.

Burial will take place in the Evergreen Cemetery, Harmonsburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Parkinson Research Foundation, 5969 Catterbridge Blvd., Suite 100, Sarasota, Fla. 34232; or to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 8th Ave., 7th Floor, New York, N.Y. 10001.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the Meadville Medical Center staff on the 3rd floor, to the Crawford County Care Center (Cinnamon Street), and to Hospice of Crawford County.
