Elsie E. Dillaman

MEADVILLE — Elsie E. Dillaman, 86, of Meadville, and a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community since March 2009, died there on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013.

She was born June 25, 1926, in Widen, W.Va., a daughter of Frank and Mary Tekaucic Knapp. She married Edwin G. Dillaman on Oct. 11, 1969, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 6, 1998.

She was a homemaker and she worked at Calhouns Corner Store at Coons Corners. She was a 1945 graduate of Meadville High School; a member of St. Phillip Roman Catholic Church, Crossingville; the Hayfield Grange; Hayfield Central Hose Co. Auxiliary; the SNPJ Lodge (Slovene National Benefit Society); the Grottoettes; and she volunteered at Grotto Park, Saegertown. She loved socializing and traveling with her husband. She also enjoyed everything outdoors, flowers, gardening and bird watching.

She is survived by two stepsons, Roger E. Dillaman and his wife, Elaine, of Conneautville, and Philip E. Dillaman and his wife, Mildred, of Meadville; six grandchildren, Lisa Dillaman and Tina Chambley, both in Florida, JoAnne Styborski and her husband, Tim, of Venango, Brian Dillaman of Florida, Kevin Dillaman and his wife, Delores, of North Carolina, and Jody Dillaman of North Carolina; three great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; two nieces; and a nephew.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by an infant stepson, Jimmy Lee Dillaman; a brother, Raymond Knapp; and an infant brother, Robert Knapp.

Calling hours will be Monday from noon to 2 p.m. at Robert W. Waid Funeral Home Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.

The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m., with Father Thaddeus T. Kondzielski of St. Phillip Roman Catholic Church officiating.

Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

The family suggests memorials be made to Hayfield Central Hose Company, 15417 State Highway 198, Meadville, Pa. 16335.
