Peter (Pete) Zuccaro

MEADVILLE — Peter (Pete) Zuccaro, 88, of 1018 Market St., Meadville, passed away Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, at home.

Pete was born in Meadville on June 28, 1924, a son of the late Stefano and Anna Acquaviva Zuccaro. On June 17, 1944, Pete married Carmella Messina; she preceded him in death on Nov. 20, 1986.

He was a member of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, Meadville.

After 35 years of service, Pete retired from the former Talon Inc. where he had been employed as a setup man. He was previously employed by the former Sealtest Dairy and the former Grill’s Carpet. He attended the former St. Brigid Catholic School and Meadville High School.

A member of the Italian Civic Club, Pete served as past president, manager and he held several other positions over the years. Pete enjoyed bowling, especially duckpin bowling. In his younger years, he enjoyed many evenings out, dancing with his wife. Family and extended family were always the most important thing in Pete’s life. He treasured time spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.

Pete is survived by three daughters, Anna Kinnunen of Ashtabula, Ohio, Marie Gutowski and her husband, Terrie, of Meadville, and Patricia Scales and her husband, Jeffrey, of Red Bank, N.J.; a son, Ronald Peter Zuccaro Sr. and his companion, Sue Baker, of Meadville; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and his wife, Carmella, of 42 years, Pete was preceded in death by a grandson, Richy Scott; five sisters, Rose Campanella, Mary Anzalaco, Frances Wejroch, Catherine Cappellino and Annette Bachiu; two brothers, Sam Zuccaro and Anthony (Spider) Zuccaro; and a son-in-law, John Kinnunen.

Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where a scripture service will be conducted at 6:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, 1085 Water St., Meadville, with Father Marc Solomon, pastor, as celebrant.

Interment will take place in St. Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Township.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, 1085 Water St., or Southern Care Hospice, 1245 Park Ave., both in Meadville, Pa. 16335.
