MEADVILLE —
Mary Etta Buttray, 71, of Pachuk Road, Meadville, passed away, Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at Meadville Medical Center.
She was born May 18, 1971, in Meadville, a daughter of Charles Clark and Katie Borntreger. She married Karl D. Buttray on Aug. 18, 1973; he survives.
She attended Meadville Area High School and worked for Channellock for 16 years before going back to school to become a licensed practical nurse.
Mary was a member of First Christian Church.
In her younger days Mary enjoyed bowling in several leagues and country music concerts; she also was an excellent cook, baker and seamstress.
In addition to her loving husband, Karl, of 39 years, Mary is also survived by a daughter, Crystal Schaefer and her husband, Kerry, of Linesville; three sons, Jeffry Smith and his wife, Mary, of Linesville, Michael Smith of Meadville, and Douglas Smith and his wife, Janet, of Waldorf, Md.; two stepdaughters, Karla Buttray of Meadville and Nancy Jo Mattocks of Meadville; two stepsons, Karl Buttray Jr. and his wife, Laura, of Meadville, and William (Bill) Buttray of Meadville; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Shirley Yoder and Clara Kegley; and a brother, Bill Clark.
Family and friends are welcome to call today from 6 to 9 p.m. at Roofner-Collins-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 544 Chestnut St., Meadville. An additional calling hour will be on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to noon, with the funeral service to follow at noon, at the funeral home, with Associate Minister Roger Smith of First Christian Church officiating.
Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Vernon Township.
