MEADVILLE —
Jack R. Foust, 76, of Dawn Drive, Meadville, and formerly of Conneaut Lake, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at his residence following a courageous battle with end-stage lung disease.
Jack was born in Meadville on Oct.12, 1936, a son of the late Virgil and Dorothy Zimmerman Foust.
He was a 1954 graduate of Linesville High School. He was self-employed, with his father and brother, Bob, as an excavating contractor at Foust Sand and Gravel for more than 55 years until his retirement. He first started working in the business at the age of 13. He also built 22 homes in the Conneaut Lake area.
On Jan. 12, 1962, he married Mavis Ann Watson. They enjoyed more than 50 years of true companionship, always doing things together, especially enjoying traveling and building a family together.
Jack was an active, long-standing member of First Baptist Church of Linesville. He played an integral part in the excavation work when the new church was built. He was also a member and chairman of the Summit Township Planning Commission for 18 years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, crossword puzzles and spending time with his family. He will be remembered for his honesty, fairness and generosity. He was a man of his word and his legacy will live on through his family and the lives that he touched.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, Mavis, include: two daughters, Jacque Seagle and her husband, Mark, of Hickory Corners, Mich., and Sue Larson and her husband, Charles, of Meadville; a son, Kenneth Foust and his wife, Linda, of Conneaut Lake; a daughter-in-law, Lori Foust of Linesville; 10 grandchildren, Alan Foust, Brittany Foust, DeAnna Runyan, Devon Bevacqua, David Durfee III, Danielle Coppola, Christina Lengyel, Brandy Steere, Ian Howell and Shane Howell; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Robert L. Foust and his wife, Judith, of Conneaut Lake; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Thomas and Melody Law of Saegertown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Rod Foust, and a sister, Rita Buzzard.
Calling hours will be Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Waid-Coleman Funeral Home Inc., 12422 Conneaut Lake Road, Conneaut Lake.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Linesville, 6114 Highway 6, Linesville, with the Rev. Art Barnes, pastor, officiating.
Interment will be in Foust Cemetery, Conneaut Lake.
The family suggests memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Linesville, 6114 Highway 6, Linesville, Pa. 16424.
