CONNEAUT LAKE — CONNEAUT LAKE — Robert F. Walde, 84, of Conneaut Lake, was called to the Lord and reunited with his wife and daughter on Saturday, May 8, 2010.

He was born in Pittsburgh on Aug. 5, 1925, the son of the late Raymond J. and Judith Schaffer Walde. Bob married Dorothy (Dot) Nagel on Aug. 9, 1946.

Bob was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army Air Corps, and survived 35 combat missions as a gunner on a B-24 Bomber in the European Theater. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. He served as a letter carrier in Bethel Park and later retired to Conneaut Lake.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Judith Walde. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Dot, on Jan. 17, 2007; his daughter, Gerry, on Jan. 13, 1986; his sisters, Grace, Gloria Carey and Mary Roberts; and his brother, Norman.

Survivors include his son, Robert F. Walde Jr. of Baldwin; his brother, Paul and his wife, Georgia, of Oklahoma City; his grandchildren, Christy Guadagnino, Scot Hughes, Neil Walde and Katie Walde; his great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Matthew, Thomas, Jack, Hallie, Aleeta and Jo; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady Queen of the Americas Church, 155 S. Ninth St., Conneaut Lake. Funeral Mass will be celebrated immediately following at 10 a.m., with Father Steve Anderson as celebrant.

Interment will be in Our Lady Queen of the Americas Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Our Lady Queen of the Americas Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Dickson Funeral Home, 130 N. Second St., Conneaut Lake.
