MEADVILLE —
Ruth D. Walton, 93, of Meadville, died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012, at Crawford County Care Center, following a period of declining health.
She was born Nov. 19, 1918, in Meadville, a daughter of Earl S. and Pearl B. Taylor Boyle. She married Lew R. Walton, Jan. 27, 1962, and he survives.
Ruth was a graduate of Meadville High School and was employed at American Viscose as a production worker for 44 years, retiring in 1982.
A member of Wadsworth Avenue Evangelical Church and the French Creek Conservancy, Ruth enjoyed sewing, crafts, doing puzzles and especially the time spent with her family and many friends.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, Lew, of 50 years, include a son, Joseph Catalano Jr. and his wife, Julia, of Cambridge Springs; two grandsons, Douglas O. Catalano and his wife, Kim, of Remington, Va., and Joel P. Catalano of Edwards, Colo.; a stepgranddaughter, Erin S. Wheeler of Columbus, Ohio; a brother, Donald F. Boyle of Saegertown; a sister-in-law, Betty Boyle of Cambridge Springs; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred D. Miller; and two brothers, Edward C. and Harold E. Boyle.
Calling hours will be Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
The funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Gerald Walton, cousin, officiating.
Interment will be in Wayland Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
