MEADVILLE — Jesse J. Arthur, 89, of Meadville, passed away, Thursday, July 5, 2012, at Meadville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

He was born Feb. 1, 1923, in Conneautville, a son of William Arthur and Mary Adkins Arthur.

He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006 and American Legion.

Jesse was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and was of the Presbyterian faith.

He worked in the American Postal Workers Union.

Jesse is survived by a stepdaughter, Carolyn Myers of Pittsburgh; a granddaughter, Jackie Burasworth of Pittsburgh; and a brother, Orval Arthur of Meadville.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Orpha; his parents, William and Mary; three sisters, Mary, Eileen and Maxine; and a brother, Chester.

There will be a graveside military service on Monday at 1 p.m. at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, 17045 Conneaut Lake Road, Meadville.

Burial will follow the service.
