CONNEAUTVILLE — Gladys L. Crow Adkins of Conneautville passed into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013.

Gladys was born Oct. 24, 1922, in San Diego, Calif., a daughter of the late Charles H. Crow and Lidie L. Stevenson Crow. She married Victor (Bus) Adkins in 1945.

She owned and operated Adkins Beauty Shop and Adkins candies for many years. She was a member of Living Hope Community Church of Conneautville; Stitch & Chatter Club.

Because Gladys’ father was stationed in Hawaii in the U.S. Coast Guard, she saw firsthand the Japanese planes coming to bomb Pearl Harbor. Later she became a “Rosie the Riveter” at Douglas Aircraft plant in California.

Survivors include her three daughters, Sydney L. Wallace (Donald), Vicki Casbolm (Ernie) and Myrna L. Adkins, all of Conneautville; grandchildren, Donald K. Wallace (Julie), Ryan W. Casbolm (Aletta), George R. Wallace (Beth), Aaron E. Casbolm and Paula S. Casbohm; great-grandchildren, Donald K. Wallace III, MacKenzie L. Wallace, Ansley R. Casbohm, Toby R. Wallace, Terrance J. Wallace, Morgan R. Wallace and Barret J. Casbohm; brother-in-law, Robert M. Butterfield of Conneautville; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by her husband; and brothers, Charles W. Crow and Robert Crow.

Memorial services will be held at a later date at Living Hope Community Church, 1205 Main St., Conneautville. White-Cool Funeral Home, 1405 Main St. Conneautville, is handling arrangements.

He was born in Oil City, May 1, 1959, a son of Raymond J. and Marian E. Nuhfer Conaway. He married Laura S. Burchard, June 26, 1982, and she survives.
