Thomas Samuel Maruso, 83, passed away Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Millcreek Manor. Tom was born June 22, 1929, in New Castle, a son of the late Rev. Frank and Rose (DeMasi) Maruso.
Tom served overseas in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He owned and operated Maruso Paper Company since 1963. He attended Erie First Alliance Church. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and pro-wrestling and he enjoyed spending his winters in Bradenton, Fla. His commitment and love of the Lord and his family were primary in his life. By openly sharing these beliefs, he was an inspiration to all who knew him. He loved to talk and make people laugh.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his first wife, Victoria Marie (Campanella) Maruso; four brothers, Jim, Dave, Danny and Calvin; and his great-grandson, Macaleb Samuel Fitzsimmons.
He is survived by his wife, Caroline; his daughters, Cheryl Guy (Kerry), Kristina Norman (Ron), Alicia Burns (Tom) and Linda Brodziak; his two sisters, Ruth Massaro (Amos) and Esther Seymour (Tom); his brother, Paul Maruso; six grandchildren, Jennifer Fitzsimmons (Ryan), Carolyn Snyder (Gary), Randy Norman (Rachael), Patrick Norman, Michael Norman (Jessica) and Taylor Burns; and six great-grandchildren who will sadly miss their “Papa Honey.” Many nieces and nephews also survive.
Friends are invited to call at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 W. 38th St., Erie, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and at First Alliance Church, 2939 Zimmerly Road, Erie, on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until the funeral service at noon. Entombment will follow at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to First Alliance Church, 2939 Zimmerly Road, Erie, Pa. 16506.
