SAEGERTOWN —
Helene B. Bengivenga, 97, of 20881 State Highway 198, Saegertown, formerly of 558 Ellicott Court, Meadville, passed away Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at Crawford County Care Center, Saegertown.
Helene was born in Warren, Ohio, on May 20, 1915, a daughter of the late Frank and Gertrude Hull Richards. On Sept. 28, 1952, Helene married Ciro (Jerry) Bengivenga; he preceded her in death on Jan. 27, 2003. She had previously been married to Thomas Hassett, who also preceded her in death.
She was a member of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, Meadville.
After 28 years of service, Helene retired in 1977 as a lab technician in the engineering department of the former Talon Inc.
Helene is survived by three daughters, Nancy Gunn and her husband, Kenneth, Sandra Valella and Valerie Hassett, all of Meadville; nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husbands and parents, Helene was preceded in death by a son, Richard Hassett; a sister, Patricia Byrant; and four brothers, Charles, Francis, William and Robert Richards.
Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 10 a.m. to noon at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where a memorial service will be held at noon, with Father Marc Solomon, pastor of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, officiating.
Interment will take place in St. Agatha Cemetery, West Mead Township.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Helene Bengivenga to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation, 1 Children’s Hospital Drive, Central Plant, Floor 3, 4401 Penn Ave., Pittsburgh, Pa. 15224-1342.
