CAMBRIDGE SPRINGS —
Cindi Lou McKissock, 53, a resident of 229 Beach Ave., Cambridge Springs, was pronounced deceased at Meadville Medical Center as the result of an automobile accident occurring on Thursday afternoon, Jan. 24, 2013, on Route 19, south of Saegertown.
Cindi was born on Oct. 17, 1959, in Panama City, Fla., a daughter of the late Robert J. Burnley, who served in the United States Air Force, and Pauline E. Ferris Burnley. She traveled with her family throughout the United States and resided in Rome for two years, where her father was stationed in the military. She and her family then returned to the United States in 1969, making their home in Cambridge Springs.
Cindi graduated from Cambridge Springs High School in 1978. Following graduation, Cindi worked as a juvenile probation officer in Meadville, at the Tri-County Intermediate Unit in Edinboro, and then for the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board in Erie and Crawford County. She presently was working as a server at the Big Skinny Hot Dog Shop in Cambridge Springs where she enjoyed spending her time interacting with her co-workers and the community. Cindi presently was attending her final year at Edinboro University where she anticipated graduating and receiving her degree in social work.
Cindi was a very dedicated student, spending endless hours studying her schoolwork. In her spare time on weekends, she enjoyed antiquing with her close friend, Theresa. In the past, she enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Ladies League at Riverside Golf Course, where she had a hole-in-one. Cindi also enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. Cindi was a very giving person who was full of so much love. She was a true blessing here on earth who conquered many battles, turning her life around into the utmost success. She was a friend with Bill W. for four years and a best friend to many in her community. Most of all, Cindi enjoyed spending time with her family — Samantha, Ryan and the “love of her life,” Charlee. She had become an avid fan of General McLane wrestling and enjoyed cheering them on at their matches. She loved traveling with her daughter and granddaughter to the weekend tournaments, supporting Ryan and his wrestling team. Cindi also loved shopping with Samantha and Charlee, as long as it was all for Charlee. Cindi’s heartwarming smile, healing words and compassionate soul will be incredibly missed by her family, her many friends, and most of all her adoring grandaughter, Charlee.
Surviving Cindi is a daughter, Samantha Morey McKissock and her companion, Ryan Steven Cook and their daughter, Charlee Elizabeth Cook, all of Cambridge Springs. In addition, Cindi is survived by three sisters, Bobbi Devore and husband, Phillip of Birmingham, Ala, Betti Burnley-Hosu and husband, David, of Erie, and Robin Burnley and her companion, Bob Knuth, of Cambridge Springs; and a brother, Terry Burnley and wife, Monica, of Portsmouth, R.I. Cindi is also survived by Charlee’s grandfather, Mark McKissock of Cambridge Springs; a brother-in-law, Darrel Daniels of Union City; and uncles and aunts, Max and Audrey Ferris and Don and Marianne Ferris, all of Cambridge Springs. Other survivors include 15 nieces and nephews; and several cousins.
Friends may call at the Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to attend services at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Rev. James Callender, pastor of the First Church of God in Cambridge Springs, will officiate.
Interment will be in Millers Station Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 810 River Ave., Suite 100, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15212 to fund research for this disease that afflicts her granddaughter. To send condolences, please visit vanmatrefuneralhome.com.
