MEADVILLE —
John Edward “Ed” Waldorf of Meadville died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, from complications of pulmonary fibrosis.
He was born Oct. 26, 1946, a son of Leroy A. Waldorf Jr. and Doris Adams Waldorf. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by a brother, Charles W. Waldorf.
Ed was a 1964 graduate of Commodore Perry High School, where he was a member of the wrestling and track teams. One of Ed’s proudest moments was winning the Section 3 tournament for the 127-pound weight division in 1964 for Commodore Perry. After graduation, Ed served in the U.S. Navy from 1966 to 1970. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Ed was employed at the Meadville PPG plant for nearly 40 years, retiring in 2009.
Ed enjoyed traveling to tractor and farm equipment shows throughout the Midwest and had just traveled to the John Deere Museum in Iowa five months before his death. He had purchased and restored a 1959 Model 730 John Deere tractor and was looking forward to competing in tractor shows.
Ed will be remembered as a loyal, helpful friend and a loving brother.
He is survived by his sisters, Marilynn (Roger) Roae of Erie, Linda Waldorf of Grove City and Pamela (Gary) Williamson of Meadville; and his brother, James (Darlene) of Mercer; four aunts; two uncles; several nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins; his former wife, Christine Arbuckle; and his good friend, Larry Turner.
Calling hours for both John “Ed” and his brother, Charles, will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. 3223 Perry Highway, Sheakleyville, and a joint funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Eric Peters, pastor of Fredonia Presbyterian Church, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial contribution to the Wrestling Boosters Club, c/o Commodore Perry High School, 3002 Perry Highway, Hadley, Pa. 16130.
