LINESVILLE — Karen R. Eiler, 65, of Linesville, died Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at Hamot Medical Center, Erie.

She was born May 7, 1945, in Conneaut, Ohio, a daughter of John and Margaret Perry Keen. She married Robert C. Eiler Feb. 5, 1965, and he survives.

She worked as a registered nurse for 19 years and retired in 1986 as head nurse from Aliquippa Community Hospital. She then opened and operated Gold-Dust Jewelers in Moon Township (Allegheny County) until 2005. She was a graduate of Conneaut Valley High School, received her licensed practical nursing degree from Spencer Hospital School of Nursing and her registered nursing degree from Beaver County Community College.

She was very active with Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8634 Ladies Auxiliary in Hopewell. She was a four-time district auxiliary president and over the years held many state level VFW ladies auxiliary committee chairmanships. She was a member of Conneaut Lake Presbyterian Church and she loved boating, scuba diving, garage sales and auctions.

Survivors, in addition to her husband, Robert, of 45 years, include two daughters, Tracey Eiler and Tammi Eiler, both of Conneaut Lake.

A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.

The family suggests memorials be made to the American Heart Association, 933 Park Ave., Meadville, Pa. 16335; or the National Kidney Foundation, 700 Fifth Ave., Fourth Floor, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15219-3017.

Arrangements are under the direction of Waid-Coleman Funeral Home Inc., 12422 Conneaut Lake Road, Conneaut Lake.
