MEADVILLE — Ramona L. Vuksan, 81, of 18882 Brake Shoe Road, Meadville, passed away Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at Meadville Medical Center.

Ramona was born in Wellington, Ohio, on June 15, 1931, a daughter of the late Myron and Claire Herrick Gott. On Jan. 30, 1954, Ramona married Anthony (Tony) M. Vuksan; he preceded her in death on Feb. 14, 2012.

She was a member of St. Bernadette’s Roman Catholic Church, Saegertown.

Ramona graduated from New London High School in May 1949. She went on to further her education by graduating from Fairview Park Hospital School of Nursing in 1952 as a registered nurse. Following her graduation from nursing school, Ramona worked for the former Meadville City Hospital and Allegheny College Infirmary until she took a leave of absence to raise her family. After her family was grown, Ramona continued her career for 10 years working for the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

She was a member of The Red Hat Society, a social member of both Saegertown Volunteer Fire Department and Vernon Central Volunteer Fire Department. In her earlier years she was involved with the Saegertown Area Recreation Association where she was a former officer.

Ramona is survived by four children, Timothy Vuksan and his wife, Carolyn, of Vowinckel, Cheryl Lanich of Bradford, Pamela Schreck and her husband, James, of Meadville, and Fred Vuksan and his wife, Sheri, of Dallas, Texas; 10 grandchildren, Kyle Vuksan and his wife, Suzi, Emily Kiskadden and her husband, Bryan, Joshua Lanich, Ben Lanich, Amanda Schreck, Abbey Schreck, Justin Greene, Brandon Vuksan, Eric Dodd and Miles Dodd. Ramona was very proud of her five great-grandchildren, Austin Greene, Brinley, Lillian and Tenley Kisdadden and Jeffery F. Vuksan. She is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Tony, of 58 years, Ramona was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Vuksan; a sister, Norma Soules; and two brothers, Herman and Gerald Gott.

Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where a scripture service will be conducted at 4:30.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Bernadette’s Roman Catholic Church, Renner Avenue, Saegertown, at 11 a.m. Wednesday, with Father David Poulson, pastor, as celebrant.

Interment will take place at St. Agatha Cemetery, Meadville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Saegertown Volunteer Fire Department, Erie Street, Saegertown, Pa. 16433; or the Humane Society of Crawford County, 11012 Kennedy Hill Road, Meadville, Pa. 16335.
