Lea H. Smith, 87, of Golfview Manor, Meadville, passed away, Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at her residence.
She was born April 8, 1925, in Antwerp, Belgium, a daughter of Paul Bossers and Philomena Uereeckem Bossers. She married Joseph Rickel in 1956; he preceded her in death in 1968. Subsequently she married Robert W. Smith in 1978 and he passed away in 1999.
She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006 Auxiliary.
Lea was employed by Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community as a physical therapy aide until her retirement in 1994.
She is survived by a daughter, Michele Rickel and her companion, William, of Meadville; a son, Michael Rickel of Cary, N.C.; a stepson, Thomas Smith and his wife, Martha, of Meadville; three grandchildren, Samantha Rickel and her companion, Alex Cornell, of Meadville, John Rickel of Fort Campbell, Ky., and Sharon Free of Meadville; a stepgrandchild, Greg Smith of Meadville; a great-grandchild, Allie Cornell; a daughter-in-law, Sharri Rickel of Meadville; a sister-in-law, Mary Lou Taormina of Meadville; and two nieces, Rose Mary Prenatt and her husband, Michael, of Guys Mills, and Freda of Belgium.
In addition to her two husbands, Lea was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; and a son, Mark Rickel.
Calling hours and the funeral service will be private.
Burial will take place in Greendale Cemetery, Meadville.
