FOX CHAPEL — Delia M. Bower, 50, of Fox Chapel, shed this earthly shell and went home to Christ on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, from Montefiore Hospital in Pittsburgh, after a heroic battle with congenital heart disease.

Delia was born in Molene, Ill., on Nov. 28, 1961, a daughter of Werner and Renate Schiller Wiese. She married the love of her life, Richard Bower, on April 13, 2002, in Meadville.

Delia and Richard lived in Meadville for two years after their marriage, and then lived in Alabama and Georgia, where Richard’s work took them. They returned to Pittsburgh in 2008, where they have resided since that time.

Delia was a strong testimony to the human spirit, an encourager to all who knew her, especially her Adult Congenital Heart Discussion list friends. She spoke her mind, and encouraged people not to give up or give in.

Delia is survived by her loving husband, Richard; her mother, Renate Wiese of Iowa; her sister, Diane Wiese of California; her brother, Dirk, of Germany; and a niece, Amanda Potter of Iowa. She also leaves behind the members of the Bower family of Guys Mills and Florida who will be forever changed by knowing her.

She was preceded in death by her father, Werner Wiese; and by an infant brother.

Any memorial gifts may be donated to the Adult Congenital Heart Unit of Emory University Hospital, 1365 Clifton Road N.E., Building A, Suite 2447 Atlanta, Ga. 30322.

Visitation will be at Thomas M. Smith Funeral Home and Crematory Ltd., 930 Center Ave., Blawnox, Pa., Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of the service at noon.
