MEADVILLE —
Rena S. Williams, 88, of Meadowland Drive, Meadville, passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012.
She was born on Dec. 19, 1923, in Greenville, a daughter of George Mansell and Rena Hutton Mansell. She married L. Fred Williams in 1946; he preceded her in death on July 27, 1994.
She was a graduate of Penn High School and attended Villa Maria College.
Rena was employed as the night nursing supervisor at Meadville City Hospital for 28 years until her retirement.
She was a charter member of the Elks Club Women’s Auxiliary and a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Rena is survived by a daughter, Judith Smith of Shippensburg; a son, Bill Williams and his wife, Suzanne, of Meadville; a grandson, Michael Williams and his wife, Talma, of Pittsburgh; three granddaughters, Wendy Meyer and her husband, Jim, of Meadville, Amity Norburg and her husband, Lee, of Harrisburg, and Tamara Moore and her husband, Mark, of Shippensburg; great-grandchildren, Libby and Paige Meyer, David, Daniel and Victoria Williams, Lukas and Giuliana Norburg, and Miles Moore; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Rena was preceded in death by her parents; a son, John Williams; a sister, Frances Hauser; and three brothers, Chester, John and George Mansell.
Calling hours and the funeral will be private.
Burial will take place in Greendale Cemetery.
Per Rena’s request, no flowers are to be sent, but donations may be made in her memory to Meadville Medical Center Auxiliary, 751 Liberty St., Meadville, Pa. 16335.
