CONNEAUT LAKE — Betty Louise Fry, 82, of Conneaut Lake, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at Rolling Fields Inc. of Conneautville.

She was born Sept. 28, 1930, in Hadley, a daughter of Forest B. and Effie May Riggleman Clawges. She married Evan (Bud) Fry on June 7, 1949. He preceded her in death April 14, 1989.

She was a 1948 graduate of the former Hadley High School.

She had been employed at the Steel Car Diner, Greenville Hospital as a nurse’s aide, Greenville Country Club, Lakeview Inn, Silver Shores, Friar Tuck’s, Conneaut Lake Park Fire Hall and Spillway Inn of Linesville. She was known for her potato soup and her pies.

She was of the Christian faith.

She enjoyed crochetting and knitting; had a passion for NASCAR and Pittsburgh Pirates; and enjoyed family gatherings and the music of Engelbert Humperdinck.

Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Fry of Conneaut Lake; a son, Steven Fry of Conneaut Lake; two grandchildren, Steve and Amber; many adopted grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Filer and her husband, Joe, of Grove City, and Mary Jane King of Greenville; and many nieces and nephews; and three special people whom she considered to be her children, Dan, Debbie and Artie.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father and husband; four sisters, Edna Mattocks, Nina Neighbor, Margaret Pearson and Ethel Baker; and two brothers, John Clawges and Owen (Gert) Clawges.

Calling hours are from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity United Methodist Church, 240 N. Third St., Conneaut Lake.

A memorial service follows at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Jay Sterling and Pastor David Brumagin officiating.

Interment will be in Hadley Cemetery.

Arrangements are in the care of Dickson Funeral Home and Crematory, 130 N. Second St., Conneaut Lake.
