MEADVILLE — Hazel Monico, 86, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2012, at Meadville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

Hazel was born in Meadville on Aug. 16, 1925, a daughter of the late John and Agnes Rotunda SanFelice. Her husband, Alexander Monico, whom she married on Feb. 7, 1942, preceded her in death on Jan. 22, 1989.

Hazel was a member of St. Mary of Grace Catholic Church. She attended Meadville-area schools. In earlier years, she was employed by Talon and provided childcare in her home.

Hazel enjoyed cooking for her family and playing cards or bingo with friends. She will be remembered as a dedicated mother who provided continuous care to her youngest son, Danny.

She is survived by two sons, Frank Monico and his wife, Leona, of Saegertown, and Daniel Monico of Conneaut Lake; a daughter, Alexandria (Sandy) and her husband, William, Eldridge of Conneaut Lake; nine grandchildren, Simone Davic and husband Craig of Erie, Michael Monico and wife LeeAnn of Girard, Gina Arblaster of Saegertown, Marc Rinella of Las Vegas, Tony Rinella and wife Jill, Monica and Stephanie Rinella, Steven Monico and wife Jill, all of Meadville, and Matthew Monico of Fairbanks, Alaska; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Frank Monico; two sisters-in-law, Angelina Monico of Meadville and Mary Grace Monico of College Park, Md.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Hazel was preceded in death by a daughter, Jeannie Rinella; a son, John Monico and daughter-in-law Laura Monico; a grandson, Steven Arblaster II; three sisters, Kelly Andrews, Angeline Stellato and Josephine Kelly; a sister-in-law, Theresa Monico; and two brothers-in-law, John and Anthony Monico.

Calling hours are on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Hatheway-Tedesco Funeral Home and Crematory, 614 Baldwin St., Meadville.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of Grace Catholic Church, 1085 Water St., Meadville, with Father Marc Solomon, pastor, as celebrant.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Arc of Crawford County Inc., 222 Chestnut St., or to St. Mary of Grace Catholic Church, 1085 Water St., both of Meadville, Pa. 16335.
