POLK — John A. Foringer, 83, of Polk and a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at Meadville Medical Center.

He was born Feb. 8, 1929, in Fairview, Butler County, a son of Elmer V. and Bertha Elizabeth Duespohl Foringer. He had been married to Kathryn Dietz and subsequently married Mary Jo Blair, Nov. 17, 1980, and she preceded him in death June 17, 2001.

John was a 1947 graduate of Karns City High School. He was employed at Witco Chemical Company, Petrolia, for 45 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of Petrolia Volunteer Fire Department and enjoyed going to auctions and doing carpentry work.

He was of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include three sons, John A. Foringer and his wife, Barbara, of Clarks Mills, Terry Foringer and his wife, Emma, of Bruin, and Jeff Foringer and his wife, Sonia, of Karns City; a daughter, Lisa Jorinscay and her husband, Bill, of Kennerdell; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Margaretta (Maggie) Reese, Marion (Bonnie) Silvis and Mary (Birdie) Gray.

Private family viewing will be followed by a public funeral service on Friday at 11 a.m. at Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville, with the Rev. Dave Brumagin officiating.

Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Sandy Lake Township, Mercer County.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Polk Volunteer Fire Department, 710 Main St., Polk, Pa. 16342
