Robert Neal Seaman

CONNEAUT LAKE — Robert Neal Seaman, 64, of Conneaut Lake, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013, at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community following a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born Aug. 23, 1948, in Meadville, a son of Theodore F. and Norma Eileen Ganster Seaman. He married Gloria Caldwell on April 5, 1975, and she survives.

Bob was a 1966 graduate of Saegertown High School. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Navy from 1968 to 1972. He was employed at Channellock for 30 years and subsequently worked for three years for the city of Charlotte, N.C., and for five years at Molded Fiberglass Tray Co., Linesville. He also worked for Smitty’s Towing Service for many years.

He was a member of the American Legion Post 111, Meadville, Conneaut Lake Park Volunteer Fire Department Station 5 and was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006, Meadville. He enjoyed everything about cars, including fixing them, and was an avid NASCAR fan. He was always willing to stop and help anyone whose vehicle was disabled.

Survivors, in addition to his loving wife, Gloria, of 37 years, include a daughter, Jennifer Gallman of Charlotte; a son, Scott Seaman and his wife, Dana, of Conneaut Lake; four grandchildren, Eric Gallman II, Laken Gallman, Courtney Seaman and Kiley (Bugs) Seaman; two brothers, Paul Seaman and his friend, Anita Carpenter, of Meadville and Lynn Seaman and his wife, Kim, of Chicago; two sisters, Gail White and her husband, David, of Meadville and Eileen Jamison and her husband, Dan, of Belize; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Autumn Gallman.

Calling hours are Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. at Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, 12422 Conneaut Lake Road, Conneaut Lake.

The funeral service will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Marshall Lillie, chaplain of Hospice of Crawford County, officiating, and military honors.

Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 505 Poplar St., Suite 301, Meadville, Pa. 16335; or Hospice of Crawford County, 464 Pine St., Meadville, Pa. 16335.
