MEADVILLE —
Dorothy (Dot) H. Kennedy, 86, of 786 Clark St., Meadville, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at Crawford County Care Center, Saegertown.
Dot was born in Meadville on May 5, 1926, a daughter of the late Clyde and Margaret Eastland Hummel. On April 15, 1950, Dot married William F. Kennedy at St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church; he survives.
A devoted wife and mother, Dot enjoyed being a full-time homemaker while raising her three sons. Following her graduation from Meadville High School, Dot was employed in the office of the former Talon Slide Fastener of Meadville.
Dot served as a Crawford County jury commissioner for more than 30 years, was a member of the Republican Women, the Red Hat Society and the Antique Dealers Association. She was an avid antique collector and participated in the Geauga County, Ohio, antique show with her friend, Joanne Gildea, for many years.
In addition to her husband, Bill, of 62 years, Dot is survived by three sons, David Kennedy and his wife, Patricia, and Tom Kennedy, all of Meadville, and Kris Kennedy and his wife, Kathy, of Butler; five grandchildren, Mike, Mat, Nick, Josh and Jessica Kennedy; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Nancy Hotchkiss of Lake Worth, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Clyde and Margaret Hummel, Dot was preceded in death by a sister, Anne, of Cleveland, Ohio.
Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where a private family funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m., with Father Johnathan Schmolt, pastor of St. Brigid Roman Catholic Church, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Humane Society of Crawford County, 11012 Kennedy Hill Road, Meadville, Pa. 16335.
