MEADVILLE —

Gladys R. Hecker Poloskey, 83, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, at Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community, Meadville.

She was born Nov. 14, 1929, in Meadville, a daughter of Bruce V. Hecker and Josephine Field Hecker. She married Edward D. Poloskey.

Gladys was a graduate of Conneaut Valley High School.

In addition to being a homemaker, she was employed for 38 years by the former American Viscose Corp. of Meadville until her retirement.

She was a loyal parishioner of Saint Agatha Roman Catholic Church.

Gladys was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

She is survived by her brother, Bruce Hecker and sister-in-law, Madelyn Hecker; brother, John Hecker; daughter, Deborah Poloskey Kight; son-in-law, Richard M. Kight; son, Daniel E. Poloskey and his companion, Kathryn Rugala-Claridge; grandson, Alexander M. Poloskey; granddaughter, Danielle (Lanie) E. Poloskey; grandsons, Richard M. Kight III and Daniel E. Kight; granddaughter-in-law, Julie Steward Kight; and several nieces and nephews.

Gladys’ family wishes to thank the staff of both Wesbury and Aseracare Hospice for all the attentive and loving care given to Gladys over the past several years.

Family and friends are welcome to call on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Roofner-Collins-Warren Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 544 Chestnut St., Meadville.

The funeral and committal service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with Father Marc Solomon of Saint Mary of Grace officiating.

Burial will take place in Saint Brigid Cemetery, West Mead Township.

Memorial contributions may be made in Gladys’ memory to Saint Agatha Roman Catholic Church, 353 Pine St., Meadville, Pa. 16335; or Wesbury, 31 N. Park Ave., Meadville, Pa. 16335.
