SAEGERTOWN — Vern Delbert Edminster, 66, resident of Crawford County Care Center in Saegertown for the past 13 years and formerly of Richmond Township, Crawford County, passed away at Meadville Medical Center on Friday, March 8, 2013. He had been in failing health.

Born July 16, 1946, in Meadville, Vern was a son of the late William Edminster and Mary Hutson Edminster.

Vern attended Townville schools and was employed by Vallonia Industries in Meadville for many years.

He enjoyed conversing with people and made friends easily. He had an amazing memory for their names and special dates — never forgetting a loved one’s birthday. Vern enjoyed country and gospel music and was a volunteer at Crawford County Care Center doing whatever anyone would ask.

Vern is survived by two sisters, Margaret Greathouse and her husband, Edgar, of Saegertown and Barbara Merriam and her husband, James, of Friendship, N.Y.; and two brothers, Lowell Edminster and his wife, Lois, of Cambridge Springs, and Theodore Edminster and his wife, Olive, of Vineland, N.J. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Van Matre Family Funeral Home in Cambridge Springs

Private interment will take place in New Richmond Cemetery on Monday morning.

Private memorial services will be held in the spring.
