LINESVILLE —
Harry F. Madigan, 89, of Linesville, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at his residence.
Born Dec. 15, 1923, in Linesville, he was a son of Edward and Jessie Vickers Madigan. He married Pauline Hendrick on Oct. 16, 1946.
He was a 1941 graduate of Linesville High School. Harry then served our country during World War II in the U.S. Army 28th Infantry Company G and was wounded in France. He was a block operator for Penn Central Railroad and retired in 1984. He also worked as a rural route mail carrier for many years.
Harry was a member of Linesville United Methodist Church. He was a member of Pine Masonic Lodge 498 in Linesville and the Zem Zem Shriners in Erie. Also, he was a lifetime member of Linesville American Legion Post 462 and Linesville Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7842. In his spare time, Harry enjoyed hunting, gardening and reading. He was a loving grandfather and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his loving wife of 66 years, Pauline Madigan; two sons, Rodney W. Madigan and his wife, Janice, of Waterford and their son, Sean E. Madigan of Sarasota, Fla., and Richard L. Madigan and his wife, Susie, of Enterprise, Ore.; and a niece, Jill Niemann and her husband, Frank, of Linesville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, E. Earle Madigan; and two sisters, Betty Madigan Shelton and Dorothy Bishop Bloomingstein.
As per his request, cremation was chosen and services will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made to Erie Shriners Hospital for Children, 1645 W. Eighth St., Erie, Pa. 16505.
The family would like to honor and thank the people at Hospice of Crawford County, the Department of Veteran Affairs in Erie and the Family to Family Services in Meadville for the care and kindness they provided to their family.
