LINESVILLE — Donald C. Bova, 70, of Linesville, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 17, 2012, from the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, after a lengthy battle against heart disease.

Born June 10, 1942, in Roulette, he was a son of Bernard and Vada Tauscher Bova. He married Barbara J. Welsh on Feb. 11, 1963.

He graduated from Port Allegheny High School in 1960 and later the Culinary Institute of America in New Haven, Conn., in 1962.

For 26 years, Don served as a policeman for the Pennsylvania State Police, Troop S in Meadville, and retired in 1995.

He was a member of Linesville First Baptist Church. When his health permitted, he was active in the church as a deacon and served on the praise and worship team. He loved hunting and fishing and spending time with friends and family. Don was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. He was an amazing man, role model and has blessed many with fond memories they will cherish forever.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Barbara J. Bova; a son, Chris R. Bova and his wife, Missy, of Conneautville; a daughter, Andrea J. Bova-Newell of Meadville; a daughter-in-law, Gina Sherbondy Bova Pickle of Edwards, Colo.; six grandchildren, Courtney Christy, Brittani Bova, Chasity Bova, Tanner Bova, Brady Newell and Kori Bova.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; and his son, Dennis J. Bova.

Calling hours will be Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Linesville First Baptist Church, 6114 U.S. Highway 6, Linesville.

A funeral service will follow the calling hours at the church, with Pastor Art Barnes officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U. S. Highway 6, Linesville.
