GREENVILLE —
William D. Rowe Jr., 67, of Morneweck Road, Greenville, passed away at 7:44 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at the Emergency Department of UPMC, Horizon, Greenville.
William was born in New Castle on Dec. 13, 1945, a son of William D. and Irma McFarland Rowe Sr. He had been married to the former Sheila Henry, who preceded him in death on Feb. 20, 2010.
He had been employed at GTI Corp, Hadley, from which he had retired. William served with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era aboard the aircraft carrier, the USS Kearsarge. After having served active duty with the Navy, he continued his service by serving with the U.S. Navy Reserves. He was a proud member of the National Riffle Association.
He is survived by his mother, Irma Burnett of Hadley; a sister, Ellen Leake of Jackson Center; and a nephew, Michael Leake and his wife, Sofiya, of Royersford.
He was preceded in death by his wife; an infant son, Jason David Rowe; and his stepfather, Glenn J. Burnett.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Robert L. Snyder Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 3223 Perry Highway, Sheakleyville, and are invited to share memories and condolences with the family online at rlsfh.com.
The funeral and committal service will be held on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Timothy Bowser, pastor of Sheakleyville United Methodist Church, officiating. Military honors will be accorded by Reynolds Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7599.
The interment will follow at Hadley Cemetery.
The family has suggested that memorial tributes may be made to the NRA, PO Box 420648, Palm Coast, Fla. 32142-0648; or to the Keystone Blind Association, 1230 Stambaugh Ave., Sharon, Pa. 16146.
