Alberta Q. Smith

VENANGO — Alberta Q. Smith, 78, of 21503 West Alley, Venango, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at Marquette Hospice House, Meadville.

Alberta was born at home in Cussewago Township on Nov. 5, 1934, a daughter of the late Lester and Mabel Peterson Davis. On Feb. 24, 2001, Alberta married Ralph E. Smith, who survives. She had previously married Louis Quoresimo on July 23, 1965; he preceded her in death in 1997.

She was an active member of St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church as well as the church Altar Rosary Society and Care and Concern Committee. She also served as an Eucharistic minister, visiting the homes of the shut-ins.

Alberta served as a tax collector in the Borough of Venango. In her younger years, she had been employed by the former Avtex Fibers as well as the former Parkway Diner. A 1952 graduate of Cambridge Springs High School, Alberta attended elementary school in Venango. She was a devoted homemaker and an amazing cook. She enjoyed gardening, camping and in her earlier years she enjoyed sewing. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.

In addition to her husband, Ralph, Alberta is survived by three daughters, Denise Lewis DiFucci and her husband, Joseph, of Meadville, Theresa Quoresimo Harmon and her husband, Tom, of Murrysville, and Catherine Quoresimo Mitrosky and her husband, Stephen, of Clarion; a stepdaughter, Christine Smith of Venango; seven grandchildren, Jason DiFucci and his wife, Brooke, Jessica DiFucci Muddiman and her husband, Mark, Alex Crawford, Louis Crawford, Ryan Harmon, Ben Harmon and Lucas Mitrosky; a sister, Audeen Melvin and her husband, Larry, of Cambridge Springs; a brother, Lamar Davis and his wife, Judy, of Cambridge Springs; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Louis, of 32 years, Alberta was preceded in death by a 3-year-old brother, Lawrence Davis.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Stephen P. Mizner Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 404 Chestnut St., Meadville, where a scripture service will be conducted at 6:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, 1085 Water St., Meadville, with Father Marc Solomon, pastor, as celebrant.

Interment will take place in Venango Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Marquette Hospice House, 13465 N. Wayland Road; Yolanda G. Barco Oncology Institute Benevolent Fund, 16792 Conneaut Lake Road; or St. Mary of Grace Roman Catholic Church, 1085 Water St., all in Meadville, Pa. 16335.
