FAIRMOUNT CITY —
Mona M. Lockwood, 90, of Fairmount City, died Tuesday morning, Oct. 9, 2012, at Golden Living Center in Clarion.
She was born May 9, 1922, in Jay Township, Elk County, a daughter of Linsey and Elva Dempsey Shaffer. She married Kenneth L. Lockwood on Jan. 2, 1940, and he preceded her in death Aug. 26, 2000.
Mona worked at Rola Jensen Company and was mostly a homemaker. She was a member of Hawthorn Calvary United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Sandra Shreckengost and her husband, Richard, of Putneyville; two sons, Robert Lockwood and his wife, Mary Lou, of Meadville, and Gregory Lockwood and his wife, Dottie, of Fairmount City; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Waneta Mackoviak of St. Marys.
In addition to both of her parents and husband, Ken, Mona was preceded in death by two sisters, Goldie Bowser and Shirley Plottner; and two brothers, George Shaffer and Linsey Shaffer.
Visitation will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn.
The funeral service will be Friday, Oct. 12, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with Pastor Jodie Smith officiating.
Interment will be in Temple Cemetery in Hazen, Jefferson County.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to Hawthorn Calvary United Methodist Church.
