Mary Ruth Holabaugh

MEADVILLE — Mary Ruth Holabaugh, 81, went home to be with God on Saturday, July 21, 2012, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

She was born in Brookville on May 13, 1931, a daughter of Nina and David McKinley. She married Harold Fluck, who preceded her in death due to an automobile accident six month after their marriage. She subsequently married Walter Holabaugh in 1963.

Mary was a lifetime resident of Meadville and a graduate of Meadville Area High School. She went on to graduate from Penn State University with a degree in teaching and taught in Ohio and Pennsylvania schools for 27 years.

She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church.

Mary’s tenacity was well known to her friends and neighbors. She loved her home and traveled extensively around the world with her sister Elizabeth “Libby” and around the United States with husband, Walter, in their travel trailer.

Mary is survived by her stepson, Chris Holabaugh and his wife, Lois; two grandchildren, Daniel Holabaugh (Marcy) of Boston, Mass., and Lee Anne Holabaugh (Brett); one great-granddaughter, Lilian Holabaugh and another grandson she was looking forward to meeting after his birth; faithful and loving brother-in-law, Keith Smith; her nieces and nephews, Keith Smith (Patricia) of Avon, Ohio, Kimberly Hogan (David) of Arlington Heights, Ill., Stephen Smith (Mary Ann) of Zirconia, N.C., and Amy Horton (Paul) of Chicago, Ill.; and several other nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours.

A Eucharist and Memorial Service will be announced at a later date and will be held at Christ Episcopal Church, 870 Diamond Park, Meadville.

Interment will take place in the columbarium of Christ Episcopal Church.

The family would like to give a special thank you to those working at Juniper Village, Becky and the others who cared for Mary from Hospice of Crawford County, and to Dr. Booth.

Memorial contributions may be made in Mary’s memory to Christ Episcopal Church, 870 Diamond Park, or Hospice of Crawford County, 464 Pine St., both of Meadville, Pa. 16335.
