PLEASANTVILLE —
Howard A. (Sonny) Kistler Jr., 74, formerly of Rouseville Road, Pleasantville, died peacefully at 12:31 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Meadville Medical Center where he has been a patient for several days.
Sonny was born May 15, 1938, in McKeesport, a son of the late Howard A. Kistler Sr. and Mildred Lowanda Silvis Kistler. He graduated from Franklin High School in 1956.
He was a military veteran, having served with the U.S. Air Force and being honorably discharged.
Sonny married Fern Robishaw Kistler, July 1, 1972, in Dempseytown. Mrs. Kistler preceded him in death March 11, 2011.
He was formerly employed at Universal Cyclops Specialty Steel Corp. for 35 years as a grinder.
Sonny was a member of Meadville Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, woodworking and being a handyman to many.
Survivors include two daughters, Josie Oyer and her companion, Garry Nason, of Pleasantville, and Mary Holley and her fiancé, James Smith, of Guys Mills; three sons, Steven J. Holley and his companion, Tammy, of Oil City, Howard A. Kistler of Florida and Terry Kistler of Delaware; seven grandchildren; four great-grandsons; two brothers, Donald Kistler and his wife, Mary, of Galloway, and Bill Boyd and his wife, Bonnie, of Reno; two sisters, Shirley Wells of Tionesta, and Peggy Diller and her husband, Bob, of Steubenville, Ohio; three half sisters, Jean Cochran of Oil City, Jane Cooper of Cooperstown and Rose Vandervort of Newsmanville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Millie Carbaugh.
Relatives and friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Leo N. Hennes Funeral Home Inc., 203 E. Main St., Titusville. No funeral service will be observed.
Following cremation, interment will be in Jerusalem Corners Cemetery.
